EponaTech Software for Trimmers and Farriers

Metron-Hoof and Metron-Hoof-Pro are imaging software for use with images of the horse's hoof.    Metron stores and organize images (radiographs, photographs, etc) and has been designed with the farrier or trimmer in mind.  Beyond the easy-to-use interface, Metron also provides many value-added features for the equine practitioner.

Metron supports adding notes, accurate physical measurements, and other mark-up to images.  Metron's report generator allows the easy creation and editing of formatted, multi-page reports.  Start with raw images, and quickly and easily produce final reports.

Metron supports a process called "Guided Mark-Up" in which the user is prompted to pick key points in certain images of the equine digit, and Metron then uses those picked points to compute many important parameters of the hoof's conformation.

The notion of "Guided Mark-Up" is powerful because it gives a repeatable means for different practitioners to measure certain quantities.  Prior  to the advent of Metron's method, practitioners used terms like "contracted heels", "broken-back pastern", "long toe", "rotated coffin bone", and more without very much in the way of a repeatable definition by which to really quantify these things.

Published papers by independent university researchers have tested the Metron system for accuracy and have concluded that it is capable of making accurate and useful measures of the hoof.  No other software system exists which makes these measurements.

'Palmar Angle' is the fundamental way to assess hoof angulation from the lateral view. 'Coffin-Joint Tilt' is the best way to asses medial-lateral balance.
The lateral photograph is the best way to assess 'heel height' which is useful to monitor in founder cases.
The solar photo is the best way to look for 'contracted heels' and other aspects of the sole side of the hoof.
Your images that you take of hooves don't look this good?  You don't have an accurate way of making measurements?  Add Metron-Hoof software to your set of tools, and you will be producing beautiful and accurately-measured images for yourself and your clients.
